Kaitiakitanga – Pacific Perspectives on Sustainability

This programme explores sustainability through a uniquely Pacific lens, connecting cultural identity, values and collective responsibility.

Learners will reflect on their role as kaitiaki (guardians), gaining a deeper understanding of how environmental and social sustainability can be woven into everyday life – at home, at work and in their communities.

Graduates from this programme will be able to:

  • Identify company values around sustainability and kaitiakitanga
  • Reflect on concepts of resource and waste and create a definition of sustainability
  • Identify ways to personally impact environmental sustainability
  • Apply the LEAN thinking model of ‘8 Wastes’ to their own workplace
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and sustainability within their workplace
  • Apply sustainable thinking to their skills, career pathway and future – fostering a sense of personal agency
  • Develop a growth mindset to aid their learning approach
  • Set long-term goals for themselves and their family
  • Research a career pathway
  • Complete an online learning module

Format

How we deliver this programme for your organisation is flexible depending on your needs.  Groups of 8-10 learners are ideal to work through a 16-hour programme together.

It can be delivered in weekly blocks of 2-hours or a more intensive programme such as 4-hour blocks, as you prefer. Training delivery is on-site at your organisation.
